High quality and price of Binoculars compromise consideration
Source:Ruilong Time:2011-6-13With binoculars, price and quality are synonymous. As quality goes up, so does price. One thing to remember though is that once you get to a certain point, quality begins to level off compared to price. In low price ranges, there is a big difference in quality. Once you get into the higher price ranges of $1,500 or more, a big jump in price, say $500, will not result in a huge jump in quality. There will be a difference if you have the binoculars side by side on a tripod, but in the field you will not notice a huge difference. That is why it is advised to go with the best you can afforTo get into quality binoculars that are worth buying, you will need to spend at least $200. Even then, if you can afford to spend $400, you will be getting a much better product and the difference will be very noticeable. If you can afford to double your investment to $800, then you will really getting to see some true quality optics. Look through a pair of top of the line binoculars ($2,000 +) and you will see distant objects in clarity like you would not believe. Again, stick to your budget, and go with the best pair of binoculars you can afford.
Though small binoculars might sound good as they are not bothersome to pack around, you will pay for that when you look through them. The image quality suffers as a result of being so small and they are uncomfortable to use. With big cheap binoculars, you can get a quality image, but they will not last long with hard use and you won't want to pack them around causing them to not be there when you need them.
Medium sized binoculars in the 10X42mm range are a good compromise of size and optic quality and are what most people buy today that use binoculars on a daily basis. A lot of quality can be packed into binoculars of this size. This size of binocular is also a perfect fit for the average sized hands. If you want to make sure you get the best binoculars for the money, be sure to keep them in the 10X42mm size.Magnification of binoculars is called power. There are a wide range of powers to choose from. With smaller power, you will get clearer images and a wider field of view, but they will lack detail. If you want a cheap pair of binoculars, then low power will be best. If you are willing to spend a little more, say $200 or more, you can get by with 10 power or more, as the quality of the optics will make up for the field of view and image quality, and you will get more detail. For people who use binoculars on a regular basis, 10 powers is the most common magnification they prefer.
