A former Compass Bank senior vice president was sentenced Monday to nine months of house arrest and fined $25,000 for altering bank documents. Donald W. Linville of Ponte Vedra Beach previously pleaded guilty to one count of altering a document and faced a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a fine of $1 million. By altering documents for 15 real estate loans, Linville was able to show a higher value for the bank’s loan portfolio, which benefitted him financially because his bonus was based on the number of loans and their value, according to court documents.
