Try to take as many mathematics and science courses as you can while you're in high school. You should complete pre-calculus, chemistry, and physics by the time you graduate.Once you are accepted into a college, you should choose physics or astronomy as your major and try to carry at least a 3.0 grade point average. A B average is is the minimum GPA accepted by many graduate astronomy programs, so you'll want to get the highest grades you possibly can while you're an undergraduate.
Another area to make sure you're highly proficient in is writing. As an astronomer, you'll write many articles related to astronomy and space. If you want them to be published in respected publications, the quality of your writing has to be top notch.
